I am less than six months away from graduating college without ever having pulled a true all nighter.* It is something that my body simply cannot do. I have to have a certain amount of sleep or I don't function well. Val, on the other hand, absolutely amazes me. Last night she stayed up ALL NIGHT working on a homework assignment. I am amazed by this in that 1) she can function (give or take) the next day in a fairly normal fashion, and that 2) she actually cares enough about the homework to spend that amount of effort on it. I used to give up when midnight rolled around no matter what, but have on occasion lost several hours working on important assignments. I'm not sure what else to say. I married a spectacular, yet incomprehensibly stubborn and resilient woman.
I've been having a lot of conversations on the Webboard of late. Particularly with this new young fella who claims to be a Pelagian. For those of you that don't know, Pelagius was one of the early champions of free will, but also (heretically, via The Church at that time) that man was able to achieve perfection without the work of Christ, and thus did not necessarily need to be saved. I am completely surprised that this doctrine is even around anymore, since there are so many scriptures that contradict it. It seems that he is being spiritually fed by his superiors, who continue to twist and explain away scripture to fit their pet doctrine. It just makes me all the more want to put aside any preconcieved notions when I read my bible.
*a true all-nighter is defined as skipping sleep for one night, with no naps or early bedtime the following night. I've stayed up all night once freshmen year (one of the first few times that I really talked with Val), and only made it to about 2pm before crashing.

I heard "Love Song for a Saviour" on the radio today and thought of you. I could hear you singing and playing it. I miss the guitar playing in the house (although I get lots of flute, clarinet, and french horn). Valerie is amazing. God has blessed you with a wonderful wife. Papaw wants to watch football with her again. He liked the way she cheers without making any noise at all. He said he'd like to get her, me and Pearl together to watch football. (Pearl and I (and Papaw) can get pretty loud watching football)
Love you guys!!
