Wow, it's been a while since I posted. It has been a crazy month or so with all of the job stuff going on here at the university. Immediately after the job fair, companies started interviewing, as they were already in town (quite convenient). Between Val and I, we have had seven interviews in a matter of about a week and a half. Surrounding all of this has been midterms (of course), as well as trying to keep up with sleep, so as to not look like a bedraggled college student, as well as trying to incorporate something into my wardrobe other than jeans and T-shirts. After this trying stint of interviews, we promptly got three "no"s, which suddenly brings about all sorts of issues in our minds surrounding our lack of experience (which everyone around us, or at least everyone that is getting more interviews than we are, has), as well as general incompetence, and an acute fear for our future careers (images of living out of cardboard boxes and the like). We also have our contingency plans for if either one or neither of us get jobs, which involve, among other things, more school, and thus more debt, which is just as scary with the unearthly amount we're going to presently come out of college with (more cardboard box imagery). But the other night, I was brought to a comforting peace, knowing that God always provides, and rarely in any sort of time that we're comfortable with. I hope that this thought will bring me to a more prayerful surrender of this aspect of my life, as well as the rest of it. I'll blog some more this week to give you guys your fix, since I've been away for a while.
Comments:
The Lord will reward you for your work as college students, and there's no way that the reward is a cardboard box I assure you. Well, I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine working that hard to get an education only to live in a cardboard box. Just trust that God had your lives mapped out before time began as we know it and He truly holds your futures in the palms of His hands!

(I thought I posted this earlier, but I guess it didn't go through?)
This made me think of the Bible verse that says "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord..."

Oh,.... and beware of scary buildings!

Love to you both, MOM

This is my first time commenting to a blog. (Wow what a waste of 42 years of life!) Seems like things have been a bit hectic around there. Don't stress on it. I think I ended up getting my job about 6 weeks before graduation. I remember the unanswered resumes & letters and even the "we aren't too keen on hiring women interviews". God will work it out in his timing. Obviously the company that you are suppose to work for hasn't been at the job fairs. Keep the faith. And know you are in our prayers too. Love, Kay Lynn

Yeah, the comment around here seems to be "We aren't too keen on hiring students without experience." What happened to the good old days where you just went to school, and the degree was enough? If it's that big a deal, make it required.

thanks for all the encouraging words.
