Well, today was one of the more interesting days in my life as a college student. It was the day of my senior career fair. The day where I got myself polished and prepared, and presented myself to about 25 different Chemical Engineering companies. These were not quite true interviews, so much as introductory sessions, both for interview-er and -ee to get to know (respectively) the candidate and the company. Perhaps it was the fact that I got a late start that it seemed as though the more booths I visited, the less happy or interested the companies were in me. But as I said, it wasn't really a huge difference one way or the other.
It was more interesting to see the types of companies that I will be able to choose from post-graduation. The most interesting of all, based on the concept of the business, as well as the location (Tulsa), and the enthusiasm of the interlocutor, was a company called Linde. This company basically has a storehouse or two full of parts, and on order, they put them together in such a manner to meet the needs that the customer specifies. The lady's words were, "It's like a big lego set," which, from former posts, I'm sure you know grabbed my attention. The position was also alluring due to the amount of travel involved with installing and troubleshooting these legos, which was some, but not so much to be annoying (about 4 weeks a year), as well as a mandatory one month training stint in Germany.
The whole ordeal was also interesting, due to the fact that my wife is working on the same degree that I am, which will inevitably make job searching interesting. She was quite uncomfortable at the prospect of presenting herself to dozens of companies, and relying on a first impression to get a job. We decided to split up and meet in the middle, as we had about 40 companies to attempt to contact. Seeing her in action is quite entertaining.
And with all of this, I know it's just the beginning of the fun.

Hey, Tulsa sounds great! I'm with Val, I hate the interview process. Ugh. I'm excited to see where God leads you.
Love you, MOM

Chris, that all sounds like so much fun. I know interviewing/presenting yourself can be scary, but I'm with your mom, Tulsa sounds awesome! You'd be right in the middle of both your families! You do like the idea of traveling right? I think Germany sounds awesome! Our company is in the process of installing one of our systems in Germany right now! Well, we're starting with the UK, then Germany. We already sold the U.S. on it. Wanna know what company it is? AMAZON.COM!!!!!!!! Pretty cool stuff! Also, DreamWorks pictures (Steven Spielberg) called us and they want to use our software for an upcoming movie called, "Two for the Money" starring Al Pacino, Rene Russo, and Matthew McConaghey. How cool is that? I'm totally excited to see where God is going to lead the two of you!!!
I found this link on a random blog. I thought it was pretty funny. thingsmygirlfriendandihavearguedabout.com
