There is something a bit awkward, and even unfair about requiring someone to submit a letter of acceptance for a position they didn't get. As of 4pm Monday, I officially accepted an "alternate Head Resident Assistant" position. It's been a tough thing, since I had worked myself up to the point where I really wanted to get the position. I also had tons of friends around me encouraging me, making comments like "I just know you're going to get it," which in and of themselves weren't bad, but didn't help at all when I didn't get it.
When I was thinking about the two possible outcomes of me applying for this job, I realised that whichever way the cards fell, I would be all right, and that there were enough pros and cons on each side that they were equally meritous. With that, I now know that this summer, and next school year, I will be able to spend quiet evenings with my new wife, and not have to worry about paperwork, noise violations, or all those other fun annoying RA things.
I just keep remembering that all things work together for good for those who are the Called according to His purposes. Amen.
