3.30.2004

It has been a whomping 10 days since I have last blogged. To all my faithful readers, I apologise. The week following my last cheerful post was an extremely tough one. I was so worked up, stressed out and upset about not getting the stupid head RA job that my sleep schedule was all messed up. I couldn't fall asleep till late, and my body kept waking me up early. There was one night that I fell asleep around 3:30 (or at least that was the last time I looked at the clock), and instead of waking up around 7:30, when my alarm was set, my body was up and at 'em at a whomping 5:30. The scary thing was that I was really awake. That day was the last straw. I actually got out of bed, and started doing work. I made a point to not nap for the rest of the day, and then, upon trying to go to bed at my normal 11pm or so, I was out like a light. Over the course of the week, I occupied my mind with other things, mostly schoolwork, as it was a three test week, plus the normal homework assignments, in order to alleviate the frustration of not getting the position I wanted. Val and I talked about it too, and decided that it was for the best, and that we would now be able to concentrate on our relationship, rather than have to worry about me being an RA as well as a husband. Then, when my tests came around, I flunked one that I thought I was going to do average on, and aced one that I thought I was going to do average on. So, all in all, it was an average day. Plus it was the beginning of spring break, of which I am now in the middle of. I volenteered to be the break RA, since neither Val nor I got to work over winter break. It also gives us some time together without school, and to work on wedding plans. As the break RA, I am expected to do two checks of the building per night. It was my understanding that this would be the only real duty that the job would entail. As it were, though, spring break fell on one of the campus showcase days where every high school senior from three states that wants to be an engineer shows up. Admissions then proceeds to let them know that they may have a tour of both residence hall. The person that has to give that tour is me. Over the course of my two year tenure as an RA, I have perhaps doubled the amount of tours that I have ever given in the last few days. It's been crazy. But that's okay, because I have nothing else really to do. Except install WindowsXP, which is a heck of a lot better than 98. But it has taken a while to even get simple programs, like the internet, to work properly. But now that I have, I will be posting a bit more this week. Catching up on deep thoughts, shallow thoughts, thoughts about life, love, and other stuff too. So yeah, until then...
