I have found that most people live in a world where they constantly, purposely, and usually subconciously surround themselves with people that think at least similarly to the way they do. Most of the time, they don't realise it at all. They only become aware of it when the bubble is pricked, be it ever so slightly. This pricking is usually a presentation of an opinion that is contrary to their world view. The initial response is to, of course, state their stance on the given issue. If the matter is pushed, reactions vary: anything from a passive shrug to a belligerent argument may be expected. Subsequent conversation about the said issue is at best awkward, and at worst impossible. Few people are able to step back from all that they have been taught throughout the course of their lives, and examine a world view different from their own.
Few bubbles are pricked nowadays, sadly. Paradigms are not meant to be stagnant.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Phillipians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
